The Health Ministry announced 8,536 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland on Sunday, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 175,766 including 79,542 still active. The number of active cases increased from 73,544 yesterday.
The ministry also announced that 49 more people died because of the COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus, 44 of them had preexisting conditions. The death toll in Poland went up to 3,573.
According to the data gathered by the ministry, 8,076 people are currently hospitalised and 649 are on a ventilator. A total of 320,482 people are quarantined and 45,909 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 92,651 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far.
As of Sunday morning, as many as 40,001,779 coronavirus cases, 1,115,160 deaths and 29,919,400 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.
The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 8,343,140. India comes second most with 7,494,551 cases and Brazil third with 5,224,362.
