COVID-19: record-breaking 16,300 new infections in Poland

The Health Ministry announced 16,300 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 280,229 including 156,377 still active. The number of active cases was 144,144 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 132 new fatalities, of which 15 were due to COVID-19 alone and 117 out of COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 4,615.

According to the ministry, a total of 442,109 people are quarantined and 54,440 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 119,237 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 156,377 active cases of the coronavirus in Poland.

As of Tuesday morning, as many as 43,825,904 coronavirus cases, 1,165,300 deaths and 32,207,594 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 8,962,783. India comes second most with 7,946,429 cases and Brazil third with 5,411,550.
