COVID-19: record-breaking 20,156 new infections in Poland

The Health Ministry announced 20,156 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 319,205 including 184,789 still active. The number of active cases was 170,694 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 301 new fatalities, of which 46 were due to COVID-19 alone and 255 out of COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 5,149.

According to the ministry, a total of 489,079 people are quarantined and 48,977 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 129,267 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 184,789 active cases of the coronavirus in Poland.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 1,203 out of 1,733 available.

As of Thursday morning, as many as 44,816,606 coronavirus cases, 1,179,992 deaths and 32,762,478 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 9,121,800. India comes second most with 8,041,051 cases and Brazil third with 5,469,755.
