Due to the lack of the spring season and limited summer and autumn trips, the tourism industry is in a dramatic situation, indicate the representatives of the sector in a letter to the prime minister. They ask Mateusz Morawiecki to urgently present protective measures.
On Saturday, the head of government announced at a press conference that hotels would remain closed until December 27. It was also decided that the holidays will be combined in one period - between 4 and 17 January.
The letter addressed to the Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, was signed by: Polish Chamber of Tourism, Chamber of Commerce of the Polish Hotel Industry, Polish Association of Tourism Organisers, Polish Association of Tourist Agents, Association of Incentive Travel Organisers, Association of Ski Instructors and Trainers, Forum of Ski Tourism Organisers.
As emphasized by representatives of these organisations, the solutions announced on Saturday in practice eliminate the tourist winter season.
Representatives of these organisations admit that they understand the need to introduce additional restrictions; however, they point out that such a solution excludes the tourism industry from the market during the natural winter season. "It will inevitably lead to a further collapse of the industry," they state.
