COVID-19: 6,640 new infections in Poland

The Health Ministry announced 6,640 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 1,464,448 including 216,528 still active.

The ministry also announced 346 new fatalities, of which 76 were due to COVID-19 alone and 270 from COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 34,908.

According to the ministry 181,698 people are quarantined and 5,837 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 1,213,012 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. This number is lower than the one reported on Thursday, the Health Ministry explained that Thursday's data were inaccurate and the number of recoveries was 1,204,210 on that day.

The number of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus active cases, based on the statistics published by the Ministry on Friday, is 216,528.

A total of 644,999 people have been vaccinated so far.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 1,489 out of 2,854 available.

As of Friday morning, as many as 98,153,778 coronavirus cases, 2,101,919 deaths and 70,562,087 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 25,196,086, India has the second most with 10,626,200 cases and Brazil third with 8,699,814.
