The Polish team had a good day at the international chess tournament in Wijk aan Zee, in the Netherlands. Polish grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda tied with the current World Chess Champion, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, and Radosław Wojtaszek tied with Pental Harikrishna from India. A Swedish player, Nils Grandelius, remains in the lead.
In October 2020, 22-year old Duda surprised everyone by winning with Carlsen and breaking a series of his 125 consecutive wins.
Currently the statistics of the Carlsen - Duda rivalry includes three wins for carlsen, one loss and two ties.
On Saturday, Poles will face the youngest participants of the tournament - the highest ranked juniors. Duda will play with a 17-year old Iranian, Alireza Firouzja, and Wojtaszek will face a 18-year old Russain, Andriej Jesipienko.
