The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued warnings of heavy snowfall of up to 15 cm for north-west Poland.
IMGW has also forecast strong winds of up to 100 km/hr in the Sudety mountains and even up to 110 km/hr in the Carpathian Mountains, in the south of Poland.
Moreover, the Tatra National Park has issued a third level avalanche warning for areas above 1,800m. Precarious weather conditions are also forecast in the Beskidy and Bieszczady Mountains.
Tourists planning hiking expeditions, should dress according to the weather and should wear crampons. They should also carry fully charged phones, compasses, hot drinks and food. It is also advisable to adjust planned routes to one’s fitness level.
