Football: Lewandowski leads Golden Boot standings

Robert Lewandowski leads in the European Golden Boot classification, the award for the best scorer in the top-tier European leagues. The Polish striker has already scored 26 goals this season in the German Bundesliga, which gives him 52 points in the ranking.

The strongest leagues have a factor of 2, hence 52 points for 26 goals. The Portuguese Andre Silva from Eintracht Frankfurt, also Bundesliga, is second on 36 points (18 /).

Paul Onuachu, a Nigerian from Belgian side Genk is third with 34.5 points (23 goals times league factor 1.5).

The next three positions are currently occupied by players from the continent's leading leagues with a factor of 2, who scored 17 goals: Egyptian Mohamed Salah from Liverpool, Norwegian Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and Belgian Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.

Giorgos Giakoumakis from VVV Venlo, the best scorer of the Dutch Eredivisie, is seventh, with 33 points for 22 goals. He joined his current side in the summer from the Polish club Górnik Zabrze.

Lewandowski sets his eyes on the sixth Bundesliga top scorer title. On Saturday, the Bayern Munich striker netted the 26th goal of the season, but the German champions lost 1-2 to Eintracht Frankfurt.

It could be the first Golden Boot award for the Pole. Last season, when the winner of the "Golden Boot" award was Ciro Immobile from Lazio, Lewandowski was second.
