Poland's unemployment rate expected to fall in February

The unemployment rate in Poland may drop to 6.4 percent in February, according to a labour ministry forecast published on Tuesday.

Deputy Minister of Development, Labour and Technology Iwona Michałek, commenting on the latest unemployment statistics, wrote on Twitter that Poland's labour market continues to be "in good shape."

According to Statistics Poland (GUS), unemployment in January 2021 stood at 6.5 percent against 6.2 percent in December 2020.

The Ministry headed by Ms Michałek pointed out that Tuesday's GUS data confirmed the earlier Eurostat data, according to which in December 2020, the Polish unemployment rate stood at 3.3 percent, which was the lowest result in the EU after the Czech Republic.
