Polish cinematographer nominated for Oscar

Polish cinematographer Dariusz Wolski was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Cinematography category for Paul Greengrass’ “News of the World.” The winners of the Oscars will be announced on April 25.

Along with Mr Wolski, Joshua James Richards (“Nomadland”), Erik Messerschmidt (“Mank”), Phedon Papamichael (“The Trial of the Chicago 7”) and Sean Bobbitt (“Judas And The Black Messiah”) were also nominated for best cinematography.

Viola Davis (“Ma Rainey's Black Bottom”), Andra Day (“The United States vs. Billie Holiday”), Vanessa Kirby (“Pieces of a Woman”), Frances McDormand (“Nomadland”) and Carey Mulligan (“Promising Young Woman”).

The Best Leading Actor award is between Gary Oldman (“Mank”), Chadwick Boseman (“Ma Rainey's Black Bottom”), Riz Ahmed (“Sound of Metal”), Anthony Hopkins (“The Father”) or Steven Yeun (“Minari”).

The Oscars is the most prestigious ceremony in the film world and the awards are given by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. The winners will be announced on April 25.

This year, the statuettes will be awarded for the 93rd time.
