Poland’s National Football Team lost the important away game to England 2-1, after conceding a late goal that will set the country back in its efforts to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Poland came to the game with a disadvantage as the country’s superstar, the striker Robert Lewandowski, was unavailable for the game after having incurred a knee injury in the previous fixture against Andorra.
The game also started poorly for the Poles, conceding a first goal on a penalty, converted by Harry Kane, after 19 minutes.
The Poles were clearly on their backheels during the first half but managed to hang on in the game without losing more goals until half-time.
It was a re-energised squad that came out to the second half, immediately having a few good chances after playing higher up the pitch.
Jakub Moder equalised for Poland in the 58th minute after sloppy defending by the English team. Both sides then had chances to go for three points but it was the English team that got the deciding goal when the Manchester United-defender Harry Maguire managed to send in a rocket shot into the net following a corner.
