EC calls on Belarusian authorities to drop charges against Polish activists

“We call on the Belarusian authorities to withdraw charges against members of the Union of Poles in Belarus, including Andżelika Borys, Andrzej Poczobut and Irena Biernacka,” the European Commission spokesperson told the Polish Press Agency (PAP).

“We reiterate the appeal of the head of EU diplomacy and the vice-president of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, who in his statement addressed to Belarus on March 25, called for the country to honor its international obligations in the field of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms,” the EC spokesperson stated.

“We call on the Belarusian authorities to withdraw the charges against members of the Union of Poles in Belarus, including Andżelika Borys, Andrzej Poczobut and Irena Biernacka and for the immediate and unconditional release of them along with other detained political prisoners," he added.
