COVID-19: 27,887 new cases and record-breaking number of fatalities in Poland

The Health Ministry announced 27,887 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 2,499,507 including 366,344 still active. The number of active cases increased from 361,217 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 954 new fatalities, of which 241 were due to COVID-19 alone and 713 from COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 56,659.

According to the ministry, 433,346 people are quarantined and 2,076,504 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 366,344 active cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Poland.

A total of 7,000,072 people have been vaccinated so far in Poland, including 4,909,987 who have received one dose and 2,090,085 who have been inoculated twice.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 3,362 out of 4,293 available.

As of Thursday morning, as many as 133,758,411 coronavirus cases, 2,902,627 deaths and 107,882,722 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 31,637,243, Brazil has the second most with 13,197,031 cases and India third with 12,928,574.
