No further cases of Indian coronavirus variant in Poland: official

The Polish government’s plenipotentiary for the national vaccination programme said on Tuesday that he did not have knowledge of any further cases in Poland of the highly infectious Covid-19 variant first identified in India

Michał Dworczyk told Radio Zet: "Apart from the cases confirmed so far, including the well-known case of the infection of our diplomat, who was evacuated from India, I have no such knowledge about any other cases."

He also announced that Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski would address this matter at a press conference on Tuesday.

On April 25, a Polish diplomat with a severe case of Covid-19, along with his wife, was flown home from India.

The highly infectious variant has sparked global concern and has spurred several European countries into closing their borders to people travelling from India.
